A new Jane Austen Wrecked My Life movie starring Camille Rutherford from Sony Pictures Classics is officially opening this week (though I see it already opened in some select cities, May 16), on Friday (May 23, 2025) in Select U.S. Theaters. Everywhere on May 30!
It's interesting that I've never heard of this movie (until last month) and it first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last September 2024. It was released in France last January 22, 2025. It also opened at the 40th Santa Barbara Film Festival last February 4, 2025.
I saw the trailer of this movie (last April 18) when I went to see Pride & Prejudice (2005) movie’s 20th Anniversary Rerelease in theaters, which you can watch (and read more info.) below…

Agathe (Camille Rutherford) is a hopelessly clumsy yet charming young woman who works in the legendary Shakespeare & Co. bookshop in Paris, while she dreams of being a successful writer, and of experiencing love akin to a Jane Austen novel, she finds herself desperately single and plagued by writers block. When Agathe’s best friend (Pablo Pauly) gets her invited to the Jane Austen Writers' Residency in England, she finally has her Jane Austen moment…and is caught in a very unexpected romantic triangle.
